000 AGXX40 KNHC 231753 MIMATS Marine Weather Discussion NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL 153 PM EDT Thu May 23 2019 Marine Weather Discussion for the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, and Tropical North Atlantic from 07N to 19N between 55W and 64W and the Southwest North Atlantic including the Bahamas ...GULF OF MEXICO... High pressure extends from the W Atlc into the NE Gulf and will maintain fresh to strong SE winds across the western Gulf through Fri. Winds will diminish and become more easterly across most of the basin this weekend as high pressure reorganizes across the W Atlc and builds W along 32N into SE Louisiana. Smoke from fires in southern Mexico will maintain hazy skies in the western Gulf and Bay of Campeche the next few days. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... High pressure across the NW Atlc will maintain fresh trade winds across most of the south central Caribbean and the Gulf of Honduras through Sat. Broad low pressure across Central America and the adjacent eastern Pacific will persist through this weekend to produce active weather across the SW Caribbean. A tropical wave will move into the tropical Atlc waters late Sun. A Central American gyre continues to develop along the Pacific coasts from Costa Rica to El Salvador, with center of circulation currently along the Nicaragua-Honduras border. As this feature becomes better defined in the next several days, the tradewind flow across the SW Carib will become interrupted and weakened, and very active weather will likely prevail across the SW Carib and adjacent coastal zones. Models still attempting to resolve this evolving scenario. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A cold front from 28N65W to 26N74W to 28.5N80W will continue to sink southward through Fri, then stall and slowly dissipate along 25N Fri night through Sun. A broad inverted trough will persist N of Hispaniola through Fri. A second cold front will sink southward into the northern waters Sat morning and gradually merge with remnants of old cold front along 24N to 25N Sun night through Mon. $$ .WARNINGS...Any changes impacting coastal NWS offices will be coordinated through AWIPS II Collaboration Chat, or by telephone: .GULF OF MEXICO...
