000 AGXX40 KNHC 061732 MIMATS Marine Weather Discussion NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL 132 PM EDT Mon May 6 2019 Marine Weather Discussion for the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, and Tropical North Atlantic from 07N to 19N between 55W and 64W and the Southwest North Atlantic including the Bahamas ...GULF OF MEXICO... A cold front extending across the basin from north Florida to Brownsville Texas will weaken and drift southward today, with high pressure building in its wake. A trough will develop each night over the Yucatan Peninsula, then drift westward into the SW Gulf each night before dissipating each morning. This trough will support pulses of fresh to locally strong winds in the SW Gulf during the evening and overnight hours. Smoke and haze from ongoing agricultural fires in Mexico could reduce visibilities in the western Gulf and the Bay of Campeche. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... Fresh to strong easterly winds will prevail in the south- central Caribbean and the Gulf of Honduras through early Wed before diminishing. Smoke and haze from ongoing agricultural fires could reduce visibilities north of Honduras. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... High pressure ridge across the forecast waters will retreat eastward today. This will enable a cold front, currently over the NW waters, to shift eastward across the northern waters. High pressure will build in the wake of the front. $$ .WARNINGS...Any changes impacting coastal NWS offices will be coordinated through AWIPS II Collaboration Chat, or by telephone: .GULF OF MEXICO...
