A very vigorous cold front extending from near Cape Coral, Florida to the Yucatan Channel will exit the basin tonight with strong thunderstorms ahead of it. A tight pres gradient in the wake of the front over the northern and central Gulf will diminish through early Sat while a weak reinforcing boundary clips the NE Gulf behind the initial front. Weak high pres will build in over the Gulf Sun through Wed promoting more tranquil marine conditions. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... A vigorous cold front extending from the western tip of Cuba to the Yucatan Peninsula near the Belize/Mexico border with strong thunderstorms ahead of it will push to the Gulf of Honduras Sat before dissipating on Sun. Bermuda high pres NE of the area is supporting generally moderate to fresh trade winds across the Caribbean and tropical N Atlantic with the exception of strong breeze NE winds N of Colombia. The high will weaken over the next few days, causing trades to diminish through Wed night. No significant long-period swell are anticipated to reach the tropical North Atlantic zones through at least Wed night. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A tight pres gradient ahead of a vigorous and strong cold front entering the offshore waters off NE Florida is supporting southerly gale force winds in the northern waters. The front will continue eastward tonight and the gale force winds will push farther E through Sat before diminishing Sat afternoon. The cold front should extend from 31N74W to the central Bahamas Sat afternoon, from 31N71W to the SE Bahamas Sun afternoon, and becoming stationary near the same location Mon afternoon, and finally dissipating Tue into Wed. Numerous showers and scattered strong thunderstorms will accompany the front.
