Fresh to strong southerly winds in the western half of the Gulf of Mexico will dominate until this evening. The wind speeds across the Gulf of Mexico will slow down a bit during the first half of tonight, and then increase to fresh to strong again during the second half of tonight leading to Friday morning. The western two thirds of the Gulf of Mexico will be covered by fresh to strong SE winds from Friday morning until Saturday afternoon. Fresh to strong S and SE winds will be concentrated in the central sections of the Gulf of Mexico on Saturday night. A cold front will enter the NW corner of the Gulf of Mexico on Saturday night, along the line from SW Louisiana to the NE Mexico coast near 24N. The cold front on Sunday afternoon will reach from SE Louisiana to the SW corner of the Gulf of Mexico, along the coast of Mexico near 18.5N 94.5W. The front on Monday afternoon will be nearly stationary from the Florida Straits to the NE Yucatan Peninsula. Fresh to strong NW winds will be to the NW of the cold front, during the front's E to SE movement. Strong to near gale force NW winds are forecast in the SW corner near Veracruz Mexico from Sunday morning into Sunday night. Sea heights are forecast to reach 8 feet, from Friday night and Saturday morning, from the west central Gulf waters, and spreading into the NW corner of the area, until Saturday night. Sea heights of 8 feet also are forecast in the north central and parts of the NE section, from Saturday night until Monday afternoon. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... A surface trough extends from the coast of Cuba, just to the west of 80W, to a 1009 mb low pressure center that is near 18N83W. The trough and low pressure center are forecast to dissipate by tonight. Expect fresh to strong SE winds from tonight until Sunday afternoon, from Honduras northward from 83W westward. Fresh to strong E and NE winds will start on Friday morning, in the south central offshore waters of Colombia and Venezuela. Easterly fresh to strong winds will start on Friday night, and last until Sunday afternoon, from 80W eastward. E to NE strong to near gale force winds are forecast along the coast of Colombia, between 73W and 77W, through Monday night. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A stationary front passes through 31N70W to 31N78W to 30N81W. The eastern part of the front will be stretched toward the SE, and the western part of the front will move northward tonight. Expect fresh-to-strong winds and building seas in the north central and NE waters tonight, continuing through Friday as the eastern part of the front continues away from the area. A surface trough, remnants of the front will drift WNW, from Friday evening through Saturday morning. It will support the continuation of fresh to strong winds in the NE waters. S winds will increase off northeast Florida, from Sunday afternoon into Sunday night. Another cold front, on Sunday night, will pass through 31N77W to the southern tip of Florida.
