000 AGXX40 KNHC 061746 MIMATS Marine Weather Discussion NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL 146 PM EDT Sat Apr 6 2019 Marine Weather Discussion for the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, and Tropical North Atlantic from 07N to 19N between 55W and 64W and the Southwest North Atlantic including the Bahamas ...GULF OF MEXICO... High pres ridges W from the Atlc over the northern Gulf waters. A moist SE wind flow S of the ridge will support patchy fog, some dense, near the northern Gulf shoreline from the Florida Big Bend to the Mouth of the Rio Grande until Sun afternoon. SE winds will increase over the western Gulf today as the Yucatan Peninsula trough shifts W over the SW Gulf. A cold front could bring strong to severe thunderstorms to the Texas coast late Sun night, then E along the northern Gulf coast Mon. The cold front will cross the basin Mon and Tue but weaken into a trough as it reaches the far SE Gulf by late Wed. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... High pressure N of the region will support fresh to strong trade winds across the SE and S central Caribbean through Mon night. Winds will reach near gale force within 90 nm of the coast of Colombia during the nighttime hours. This pattern will also support fresh to strong winds over the Gulf of Honduras until Tue morning. Low pres moving E from the NE United States will weaken the ridge over the western Atlc and allow winds over the S central Caribbean to subside to between moderate and fresh Tue through Thu. Winds could be locally strong along the immediate coast of Colombia during this time frame. Long period NE swell propagating through the waters E of the Leeward Islands are decaying. This will allow combined seas of 7 to 9 ft in this area to subside to between 5 and 7 ft by Mon night. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A weak surface trough extending from 24N73W to 28N67W will gradually weaken as it shifts W through early this evening. This will support high pressure ridging westward across the northern and central waters through Tue. The ridging will be displaced eastward late on Tue in response to low pressure tracking NE from the southern U.S. A cold front associated with this low is expected to push SE from the coasts of Florida and Georgia late Tue, then weaken and stall over the waters near the northern Bahamas Wed and Wed night. $$ .WARNINGS...Any changes impacting coastal NWS offices will be coordinated through AWIPS II Collaboration Chat, or by telephone: .GULF OF MEXICO...
