High pressure across the northern Gulf will shift east today ahead of a cold front moving off the Texas coast this evening. The front is forecast to reach a position from Panama City to 27N90W to Tampico, Mexico near 22N97W by Sun morning, then stall just S of Tampa Bay to 25N90W to the central Gulf of Campeche by Mon morning. Strong to near gale force northerly winds and building seas will follow the front over the western Gulf on Sun. Winds are forecast to reach minimal gale force across the west-central Gulf by Sun afternoon, and across the SW Gulf by Sun evening. Then, winds and seas will gradually diminish through Mon as the front shifts and weaken southeast of the area. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... A trough, remnants of a cold front, extending from Hispaniola near 18N68W to 17N74W to just S of Jamaica will dissipate today. Weak high pressure N of the area will support fresh to strong NE to E winds near the coast of Colombia at night through Sun night. A stronger ridge will move N of the area on Monday, thus resulting in fresh to strong winds during the day and near gale force winds at night through the middle of the week. Otherwise, generally moderate trade winds will persist across the Caribbean and tropical Atlantic west of 55W through the middle of next week. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A cold front extending from 20N65W to NE Hispaniola near 18N68W will stall tonight, briefly transition to a cold front on Sun and then stall again NE of Puerto Rico on Mon before dissipating.
