A recent scatterometer pass indicates the presence of a well defined trough over the SW Gulf. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... A frontal boundary over the NW Caribbean is allowing for a relaxed pressure gradient in the south-central Caribbean. However, fresh to strong winds are expected to pulse at night within 90 nm off the coast of Colombia through Thu night. The cold front, currently extending from western Cuba to the coast of the Yucatan Peninsula near 19N87W, will move SE and extend from central Cuba to the Gulf of Honduras by Thu morning, and from eastern Cuba to near Cabo Gracias a Dios, Nicaragua by Thu evening while gradually dissipating. Gentle to moderate winds will dominate across the remainder of the basin through Sun. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A stationary front extends from 30N65W to a 1012 mb low pressure centered near 26N75W then continues to western Cuba. Strong to minimal gale force winds are expected NW of the front and mainly E of 75W through early Thu morning. A recent scatterometer pass just confirmed the presence of minimal gale force winds N of the front between 65W and 72W. The low pressure center will gradually shift NE over the next 24 hours, dragging the frontal boundary, that is forecast to extend from 30N65W to a 1011 mb low pressure near 28N70W to 23N78W by Thu morning. A reinforcing cold front will merge with the stationary front on Fri, and extend from 28N65W to eastern Cuba.
