000 AGXX40 KNHC 170815 MIMATS Marine Weather Discussion NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL 415 AM EDT Sun Mar 17 2019 Marine Weather Discussion for the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, and Tropical North Atlantic from 07N to 19N between 55W and 64W and the Southwest North Atlantic including the Bahamas ...GULF OF MEXICO... As of 06Z, a cold front extends from near Naples, Florida to 23N89W, then becomes stationary to low pressure near 22N94W 1017 mb. A stationary front extends from the low to just inland the coast of Mexico at 19N91W. High pressure is present to the northwest and north of these features. Strong to near gale force winds are over the extreme SW Gulf S of 21N and west of 95W along with seas of 10-12 ft. Elsewhere northwest of the fronts to 27N and west of 90W, strong north to northeast winds are occurring. Expect for this conditions to change little through Mon night. The cold front will reach from near 26N81W to 25N86W and stationary to 22N95W and to 18N93W by early this evening and continue to push southward through Tue as it moves over northwestern Cuba through Mon and becomes stationary there. The strong to near gale force winds over the SW Gulf will slowly diminish to strong winds by late Mon night, while the strong north to northeast winds elsewhere northwest of the fronts will continue through late Tue before diminishing on Wed. Seas across the basin will subside Wed as the high pressure across the region weakens and the cold front over Cuba pulls further away from the Gulf. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... High pressure centered to the southeast of Bermuda will support fresh to strong trade winds across much of the central Caribbean through early Wed before winds begin to diminish through the remainder of the week. Trade winds will pulse to minimal gale- force along the coast of Colombia tonight and Mon night. Moderate to fresh trade winds will continue across the remainder of the area through the middle part of the next week. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... High pressure centered to the southeast of Bermuda near 29N60W will continue to slide east-southeast and weaken through tonight. A weak cold front extends from near 31N73W to 28N78W and to southern Florida near West Palm Beach as of 06Z this morning. The front will reach from near 31N71W to near 29N75W and then stationary to southern Florida this morning where it will briefly stall. The front will then begin to slowly move southeast early on Mon, reaching from near 31N65W to the Straits of Florida Tue morning, from near 27N65W to northwest Cuba by early on Tue and from near 26N65W to central Cuba on Wed. Ripples of shortwave energy aloft will help to induce weak low pressure along the front beginning tonight. The combination of high pressure present to the northwest of the front and the weak lows will result in increasing winds and seas north and northwest of the front and west of 70W Mon through early Wed, before shifting to east of 70W by late Wed. $$ .WARNINGS...Any changes impacting coastal NWS offices will be coordinated through AWIPS II Collaboration Chat, or by telephone: .GULF OF MEXICO...
