The latest 15/1550 UTC scatterometer data show NE gale-force winds from 25N to 27N between 94W and 97W, and NW to N gale- force winds from 22N to 23N from 96W westward. The gale-force wind conditions have started at a time that is earlier than the original forecast for the beginning of this event. A cold front, at 15/1500 UTC, extends from the FL Panhandle near 30N86W, to 28N90W to 23N95W to 20N96.5W. A surface ridge has been building to the north of the front, from Texas to the coastal plains of Mexico. The front will reach from the SW Florida coast near 27N to 23N90W to 18.5N93.5W on Saturday morning, and then become stationary and remain along more or less the same positions by Sunday morning and continuing all day on Sunday. Expect gale- force winds this evening near Veracruz, Mexico and in the adjacent waters of Tampico Mexico. Strong to near gale- force winds will follow the front, elsewhere. The front will push south as a cold front on Monday, and become stationary for a second time, across the lower Straits of Florida, or across northern Cuba and west southwestward to the northern and western sections of the Yucatan Peninsula through Tuesday night. A surface trough will set up from northwest to southeast in the SW Gulf of Mexico, on Sunday, and weaken from Monday through Tuesday. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... High pressure north of the area will support fresh to strong trade winds in much of the central Caribbean Sea through Tuesday. Gale-force winds along and near the coast of Colombia will diminish to near gale-force this afternoon, and continue as strong to near gale-force speeds during the next few nights and early mornings. Moderate to fresh trade winds will continue across the remainder of the area through early next week. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A weakening stationary front along 22N will dissipate by Saturday afternoon. High pressure north of the front will shift east-southeastward through the weekend in response to the next cold front, that will move off the SE Georgia and NE Florida coasts tonight. This front will reach from near 31N77W to Stuart, Florida by early Saturday afternoon, from near Bermuda to near 29N74W and stationary to southern Florida by early Sunday, from near 31N65W to 29N69W and stationary to the NW Bahamas and to southern Florida by early Monday afternoon, and stationary from near 29N65W to 27N74W and to the central Bahamas and to the Straits of Florida and Cuba on Tuesday.
