A cold front extends from the Straits of Florida to the NE corner of the Yucatan Peninsula, cutting across the land to 19N91W near Campeche Mexico. The front is forecast to continue moving southeastward, and exit from the SE Gulf of Mexico early on Wednesday. Strong high pressure will build across the area in the wake of the front through Thursday. Minimal gale-force northwest to north winds are occurring within 75 nm of the coast of Mexico from 21N southward. These winds should diminish to a strong breeze early on Wednesday. Strong northerly winds behind the front will diminish gradually through late Wednesday night. The surface high pressure will shift to east of the region by late Friday night. Fresh to locally strong SE to S return flow will be setting up in much of the western and central waters. A new, but weaker, cold front is anticipated to reach the NW Gulf of Mexico on Sunday. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... A cold front cuts across the Yucatan Channel right now. The cold front is forecast to dissipate gradually in the NW Caribbean Sea by Thursday. Building high pressure near Bermuda behind the front will accentuate the pressure gradient across the Caribbean Sea, enhancing the tradewinds from Thursday night until at least Sunday night. On those evenings, NE gale-force winds are possible off the coast of Colombia. No large long- period swell will impact the tropical N Atlantic Ocean during the next several days. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A cold front, extending from 31N68W, to the Andros Island in the Bahamas, to the northern part of the Yucatan Peninsula, will continue to move eastward and reach from near 23N65W to the Windward Passage on Thursday.
