A 1009 mb low pressure has developed over the SW Gulf along a frontal boundary that extends across south Florida and the southern Gulf waters. A new cold front extends from the low located near 23N92W to the coast of Mexico just S of Tampico. A recent scatterometer pass confirmed the presence of gale force northerly winds within about 90 nm N of the low and cold front. Reinforcing high pressure will force the low to move ENE with gales persisting in a narrow band just behind the cold front through this evening. The front will reach the Yucatan Channel this evening and tonight and clear the Gulf, with high pressure building across the N Gulf through Mon. Another cold front will enter the Gulf on Mon night, followed by northerly gale force winds and building seas W of the front Tue. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... A cold front over the Gulf of Mexico will reach the Yucatan Channel this evening, and move across the NW Caribbean through Mon. Brief N gales are expected along the front across the Yucatan Channel this evening and early tonight. The front will move SE and stall from central Cuba to SE coast of Nicaragua Mon night into Tue and gradually dissipate. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A weak low pressure has developed just E of central Florida, along a nearly stationary front that currently extends across south Florida and the southern Gulf of Mexico. Gale force northerly winds are noted within about 75 nm N of the low and front, with fresh to strong NE winds blowing across the waters N of 28N W of 73W based on recent scatterometer data. The low will move NE and will be N of the area tonight while a second low pressure, that has developed along the front over the Gulf of Mexico, will move across south Florida into the SW N Atlantic this evening, then across the NW Bahamas and NW waters tonight, and then to the waters between Bermuda and the Carolinas Mon. N gales are expected late this afternoon across the NW waters and offshore waters of NE and central Florida, and will shift NE tonight through Mon while developing on either side of the front. The front will start to shift southeast in the wake of the low pressure, reaching from 31N74W to central Cuba by Mon morning, and from 31N68W to the central Bahamas by Tue morning where it will become stationary across central Cuba and the Caribbean Sea. Then, the front will reach from just S of Bermuda to eastern Cuba by Wed morning.
