A cold front extends from the Florida Straits to just N of the Yucatan Peninsula near 22N88W to the SW Gulf near 21N94W. The front will pass SE of the Gulf by tonight. A surface trough extends over western Gulf from 19N96W to 24N97W will shift slowly W over Mexico during the next couple of days. A weak cold front will cross the northern waters Thu afternoon through Fri evening. A much stronger cold front will blast across the basin from Sat night through Sun night. Model guidance is in general agreement that a large area of gales could cover much of the western Gulf Sat night and Sun. Winds could reach strong gale strength over the waters adjacent to Veracruz during this time frame. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... A surface trough extending from the Gulf of Honduras to the NW Yucatan Peninsula will dissipate by Tue. Fresh to strong trade winds will prevail in the S central Caribbean Sea through Fri night, including the Gulf of Venezuela.
