000 AGXX40 KNHC 300823 MIMATS Marine Weather Discussion NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL 323 AM EST Sun Dec 30 2018 Marine Weather Discussion for the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, and Tropical North Atlantic from 07N to 19N between 55W and 64W and the Southwest North Atlantic including the Bahamas ...GULF OF MEXICO... Patchy fog and low clouds are evident along a stationary front reaching from the mouth of the Mississippi River to just south of Tampico Mexico. An earlier scatterometer pass picked up fresh to strong winds off the coast of Tamaulipas, west of the stalled front. Fog may also be a factor over the northeast Gulf, where warm, moist southerly flow is interacting with cooler shelf water. Much of the front will lift north today as a warm front, leaving a weakening stationary front off the Texas coast. A disturbance aloft will briefly re-energize the northern portion of front Mon, allowing it to move eastward before it stalls from Panama City to Tampico by late Tue. The front will again lift north as a warm front Wed, ahead of a stronger reinforcing cold front moving into the NW Gulf late Wed. This front will sweep southeast of the region Fri, followed by strong winds and building seas. Winds may reach gale force off Tampico Wed night and Veracruz Mexico early Thu. Winds and seas will diminish late Fri as high pressure builds over the region. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... Strong to near gale force trade winds will prevail across the south central Caribbean through Thu, increasing to gale force along the NW coast of Colombia late each night through the middle of each morning before diminishing. Fresh to strong easterly trades forecast elsewhere through early Sun, then moderate to fresh trades expected through Thu. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... Ridging along 28N will dissipate through tonight as a cold front moves through the central Atlc east of the region. High pressure north of the region in the wake of the front will support fresh fresh to strong trade winds pulsing off Haiti near the approaches to the Windward Passage into mid week. Fresh southerly flow will set up N of the ridge on Tue ahead of a second cold front moving off the N Florida coast on Tue night. This second front will stall from 31N74W to Central Florida on Thu. $$ .WARNINGS...Any changes impacting coastal NWS offices will be coordinated through AWIPS II Collaboration Chat, or by telephone: .GULF OF MEXICO... .GMZ017...W CENTRAL GULF FROM 22N TO 26N W OF 94W...
