A strong cold front from the Florida Panhandle to the Yucatan channel will continue eastward through early today. Most of the convection is now well E and SE of the basin, except for lingering convective showers over the N central and eastern Gulf. Strong to gale force winds will continue over much of the basin early today, gradually diminishing from W to E. Maximum seas of 21 ft will subside to less than 8 ft by late Sat. Post-frontal high pres will shift eastward across the central Gulf on Sat, and move across the Florida Panhandle on Sun, leaving a ridge from the Florida Big Bend to SE Texas on Mon. Fresh return flow will set up across the NW waters on Tue. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... Fresh to locally strong winds will continue across the south-central Caribbean through Tue, increasing to minimal gale force along the NW coast of Colombia during the overnight hours Sun night, Mon night and again on Tue night. A pair of strong frontal boundaries have entered the NW Caribbean, one extending from central Cuba to central Honduras, and the second just SE of the Yucatan Channel. Scattered thunderstorms continue to move out ahead of the first boundary, mainly to the N of 20N. Strong southerly flow will continue over the NW Caribbean ahead of the first boundary. The leading boundary will reach from the Windward Passage to Costa Rica on Sat morning, then drift S and gradually dissipate through Sun. Strong northerly winds are expected W of the boundaries as well, increasing to near gale force along the coast of Nicaragua. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A developing cold front, formerly a pre-frontal trough and squall line, extends from 31N77W to near the approach to the Straits of Florida and central Cuba, with a reinforcing boundary lagging behind in the eastern Gulf of Mexico. Strong to gale force southerly flow is across the waters from the Straits of Florida up across the NW Bahamas to ahead of the developing boundary as well as behind it. Convection ahead of the developing boundary has diminished somewhat, however an intense thin line remains within 30 nm or so ahead of it, mainly N of 27N. The leading boundary will reach from near 30N75W to central Cuba later this morning, from 30N72W to eastern Cuba this evening, weakening from Bermuda to the Windward Passage on Sat, then stall from 27N65W to eastern Cuba on Sun.
