A cold front has moved SE of the area, and a surface trough lingers offshore of Veracruz. Southerly return flow will strengthen Fri night as a low pressure system develops over SE Texas. This low will track eastward along the U.S. Gulf coast this weekend, with strong to near gale S to SW winds expected ahead of the cold front, particularly across the northern Gulf including the coastal waters. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... A cold front extending from central Cuba to the Yucatan peninsula will stall and weaken from eastern Cuba to northern Honduras today. High pres in the wake of the front will bring fresh NE winds south of Cuba, across the Yucatan Channel, and offshore eastern Yucatan through Fri morning. Fresh to strong trades are expected in the S central Caribbean through Sat night, with the strongest winds near 12N75W. Moderate to fresh trades will continue E of the Lesser Antilles this weekend. A weakening cold front from 30N65W across the Bahamas to central Cuba will merge later today with a reinforcing cold front.
