A cold front stretches from the Florida Panhandle to near Brownsville, Texas. Scattered showers and tstms are along the frontal boundary but mainly E of 90W. Winds and seas could be higher near tstms. The front will move SE across the Gulf waters reaching from near Tampa Bay to central Gulf near 25N90W to near Veracruz, Mexico tonight, and from central Florida to the central Bay of Campeche by Tue morning. Strong high pressure in the wake of the front will bring fresh to strong northerly winds to much of the western and central Gulf beginning early on Tue. Frequent gusts to gale force are also possible. Then, winds are forecast to reach minimal gale force near Veracruz Tue night into early Wed morning. The front is forecast to extend from SE Florida to the south-central Gulf near 23N90W to the eastern Bay of Campeche by Tue night, and move SE of the area by late Wed. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... Recent scatterometer data provided observations of fresh to strong trades across the south-central Caribbean, with the strongest winds of 25-30 kt near the coast of Colombia. Altimeter data indicated seas of 8-10 ft within this area of winds. Fresh to strong SE winds are also noted over the western Caribbean, particularly S of 19N W of 85W, including the Gulf of Honduras. High pressure centered NE of the area will continue to support fresh to strong trade winds over the south-central Caribbean through Tue night. A cold front passing to the north of the area will cause winds to diminish over the central basin on Wed. Then, strong high pressure following the front will bring again fresh to strong winds across the south-central Caribbean Thu through Fri night. Moderate to fresh trades will prevail across the waters E of the Lesser Antilles most of the forecast period. Expect fresh to strong E-SE winds across the area S of 18N W of 95W, including the Gulf of Honduras this evening and tonight. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A ridge dominates the forecast waters today. Scattered showers and tstms are noted over the far NW corner of the area and northern Florida. This convective activity is ahead of a cold front forecast to enter the forecast region late today. The front will push SE and reach from 31N73W to near Melbourne, FL by Tue morning, from near 30N66W to SE Florida by Tue night, and from 30N65W to the Straits of Florida on Wed morning. A second push of cold air will support fresh to locally strong winds behind the front Wed evening through Thu morning.
