High pressure of 1022 mb centered along the SE LA coast and will slide slowly ENE across the N Gulf coast and into the Atlc through Fri. Fresh to strong N to NE winds prevail from the far E waters south and southwest to the Yucatan waters and ern Bay of Campeche tonight and will gradually diminish through this afternoon, with winds around 20 kt continuing through the Straits and Yucatan Channel through this evening. As the high slides ENE, sly return flow will develop across the NW Gulf today and gradually spread across entire Gulf by Fri. Models vary in intensity of this expanding wind field due to potential development of llvl troffing in NW Gulf and have trended toward EC. The next cold front will move off the Texas coast Sat morning with little push behind it initially. A secondary S/W will move into the region early Sun to increase pres gradient behind front and yield strong N to NE winds across NW portions by Mon morning. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... A cold front is sinking slowly SE across the NW Caribbean, and has been reanalyzed from W Cuba to Mexican coast near 19.5N88W. The front will reach from eastern Cuba to Belize this evening while weakening, then lay nearly E to W along 20N Tu evening before remnants lift N across the NW Caribbean Thu night through late Fri. Moderate to fresh winds will prevail across the remainder of the basin, with fresh to locally strong nocturnal trades along the N coast of Colombia through the remainder of the week. Moderate to fresh trades will dominate the waters E of the Windward Islands, while mainly gentle to moderate winds are expected E of the Leeward Islands. Wind waves combined with long period NW swell will keep seas in the 6-8 ft range across those waters through much of the forecast period. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A cold front extending from 31N67W to W Cuba near 22.5N81W will reach from 31N62W to eastern Cuba by Wed afternoon.
