A strong cold front is moving SE across the Texas coast early this morning with strong S to SW winds ahead of it, and gale- force wind gusts. Several oil platforms reporting SW winds at or near gale force with gusts in the low to mid 40s. A squall line with strong to near severe thunderstorms is occurring along the front across the NW waters and well ahead across SE La and MS coastal zones and waters, and will shift E through this evening ahead of the front. The front will reach from the mouth of the Mississippi River to just south of Veracruz, Mexico Thu evening, from near Cedar Key, FL to the central Yucatan Peninsula Fri evening, then stall across the Straits of Florida to Cancun, Mexico Sat morning before drifting NW through Sat evening and lifting N of area Sun. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... High pressure centered along the SE U.S. coast will shift E and across Bermuda through Thu afternoon and act to freshen the tradewinds across the central Caribbean. The high will then continue to shift ENE and across the central Atlc through the weekend to produce fresh to strong tradewinds across the tropical Atlc and Caribbean east of 80W. A Gulf of Mexico cold front will move SE to the Yucatan Channel and far NW Caribbean Sat morning and stall, then drift NW and back into the Gulf late Sat and Sun. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A pair of frontal boundaries from the central Atlc to the southern Bahamas will become aligned E to W and merge along 20N-21N by Fri evening as strong high pressure to the N shifts eastward along 33N. Moderate swell associated with exiting Oscar over the central Atlc will affect waters E of the Bahamas through Thu. Another cold front will move offshore of N Florida early Sat with strong southerly flow ahead of it Fri.
