000 AGXX40 KNHC 230616 MIMATS Marine Weather Discussion NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL 216 AM EDT Tue Oct 23 2018 Marine Weather Discussion for the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, and Tropical North Atlantic from 07N to 19N between 55W and 64W and the Southwest North Atlantic including the Bahamas ...GULF OF MEXICO... A weak low pressure of 1015 mb persists over the NW Gulf near 27N95W with a stationary front extending southward to the central Bay of Campeche near 18N94W. A warm front also extends from the low to near 26N90W. The low pressure will lift N toward the coast of Texas through Wed night, then east-northeastward across the N central waters through Thu night, moving over the NE Gulf into north Florida by Fri. The developing low will drag a new cold front across the Gulf waters. Under this weather pattern, fresh to strong winds will persist across much of the northern Gulf waters with seas building to 8 ft. By Fri night, mainly gentle to moderate northerly winds and seas of 3-5 ft will prevail across the western half of the Gulf, with moderate to fresh NW-N winds and seas of 5-7 ft over the eastern half of the area. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... Gentle to moderate trades will prevail across the Caribbean Sea during the next several days, with the exception of light to gentle winds over the NW Caribbean. By Sat night, winds are expected to slightly increase to 15-20 kt across the south- central Caribbean. A tropical wave extending from the Mona Passage to the coast of Venezuela will become a trough today, then finally weaken and dissipate by Thu. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A cold front extends from 26N65W to 25N69W where it becomes stationary to the Straits of Florida. Fresh to strong winds and seas to around 10 ft are in the wake of the front. The front will weaken through Wed and allow winds and seas to decrease. The pressure gradient between high pressure over the NE United States and low pressure tracking NE from the Gulf of Mexico across northern Florida will cause winds and seas east of NE Florida to increase Thu and Fri. $$ .WARNINGS...Any changes impacting coastal NWS offices will be coordinated through AWIPS II Collaboration Chat, or by telephone: .GULF OF MEXICO...
