Fresh to strong northerly winds behind the front have already increased to gale force as indicated by recent scatterometer data, and thus the gale warning is already in effect for the W central and SW Gulf of Mexico. The gale warning will remain in effect through Thu. Winds will diminish below gale force by Fri as the front weakens.
