A high pressure ridge extending SW from the NE United States to Texas will remain the dominant weather influence over the basin through the end of this week. A surface trough will develop by each evening over the Yucatan peninsula as a result of diurnal heating. The trough will move into the SW Gulf overnight, where it will dissipate each morning. Moderate to fresh winds will accompany the trough. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... A broad surface trough over the western Caribbean is expected to develop into broad low pressure over this same area by the end of the week. Large NNE swell generated from Leslie will continue to funnel through the Atlantic passages into the Caribbean. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... Hurricane Leslie near 29.5N 56.8W 975 mb at 11 AM EDT moving N at 0 kt. Maximum sustained winds 70 kt gusts 85 kt. Leslie will move to 30.0N 56.9W this evening, 31.6N 56.8W Thu morning, 33.9N 57.0W Thu evening, 35.6N 57.3W Fri morning, and 36.9N 56.3W Sat morning. Leslie will weaken to a tropical storm near 37.0N 54.0W early Sun, then change little in intensity as it moves to near 36.7N 49.8W Mon. Leslie will start to lift northward today.
