Marine Weather Discussion for the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea,
and Tropical North Atlantic from 07N to 19N between 55W and 64W
and the Southwest North Atlantic including the Bahamas

...GULF OF MEXICO...

A high pressure ridge will reside to the N of the basin over the
United States through the forecast period. The ridge will
generally maintain light to moderate east winds. A surface 
trough will develop each evening over the Yucatan peninsula. The 
trough will move into the SW Gulf overnight, where it will 
dissipate each morning. Moderate to fresh winds will accompany 
the trough. 

...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN
55W AND 64W...

A broad surface trough over the western Caribbean is expected to
develop into low pressure over this same area by the end of the 
week. This system will serve as the focus for showers and 
thunderstorms as it evolves. Large NNE swell generated by Leslie 
will continue to filter through the Atlantic passages into the 
Caribbean. 

...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS...

Tropical Storm Leslie near 30.9N 56.1W 989 mb at 11 AM EDT 
moving SW at 7 kt. Maximum sustained winds 55 kt gusts 65 kt. 
Leslie will move to 30.1N 56.4W this evening, strengthen to a 
hurricane near 29.8N 56.6W Wed morning, 30.5N 56.7W Wed evening, 
31.9N 56.5W Thu morning, and weaken to a tropical storm near 
35.9N 56.3W Fri morning. Leslie will change little in intensity 
as it moves to 37.6N 54.2W early Sat, then continue to 37.3N 
50.5W Sun. Large and powerful swell generated from Leslie will 
affect the forecast waters throughout the week.
