Gentle to moderate winds will increase to between moderate and fresh during the second half of this week as high pres builds N of the region. A surface trough will develop over the Yucatan peninsula each evening, shift W over the SW gulf each night, then dissipate each morning. Moderate to fresh winds will accompany the trough. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... A surface trough moving slowly westward over the eastern Caribbean extends from 18N62W to 12N63W. Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms are in the vicinity of the Leeward Islands. The eastern Pacific monsoon trough combined with diffluence aloft continues to enhance scattered moderate and isolated strong convection in the SW Caribbean from 10N-14N between 77W-83W. Elsewhere, scattered showers are over Belize and the NW Caribbean to the east of Belize. A tropical wave, the remnants of Kirk, extends from 04N48W to 16N47W, moving W around 20 kt. Gale force winds are expected to continue along the northern portion of the wave for the next couple of days as it continues to move W to near 55W on Wed, then just east of the Leeward Islands on Thu. There is a medium chance for this system to re-develop into a tropical cyclone in the next couple of days. Thereafter, the wave is expected to weaken as it enters the eastern Caribbean late Thu.
