Marine Weather Discussion for the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea,
and Tropical North Atlantic from 07N to 19N between 55W and 64W
and the Southwest North Atlantic including the Bahamas

...GULF OF MEXICO...

A surface ridge N of the Gulf will maintain E to SE winds over 
the basin this week. Gentle to moderate winds will increase to 
between moderate and fresh during the second half of this week. A
surface trough will develop over the Yucatan peninsula each 
evening, shift W over the SW gulf each night, then dissipate each
morning. Moderate to fresh winds will accompany the trough.

...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN
55W AND 64W...

Tropical Storm Kirk has degenerated into a tropical wave. The
wave extends from 04N43W to 16N42W, moving W around 20 kt. Gale
force winds are expected to continue along the northern portion
of the wave for the next couple of days as it continues to move
W to near 55W on Wed. The wave is expected to weaken as it
enters the eastern Caribbean on Thu. Otherwise, fresh to strong
winds will prevail over the central Caribbean through midweek.  

...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS...

Low pres 1012 mb centered near 30N74W will move to 31N77W Tue 
morning, then northward along the coastline of the Carolinas. 
High pres ridging will set up just N of 30N in the wake of this 
low. Long period swell will cause seas to build E of 70W starting
Wed.
