A fairly weak pressure pattern persists across the basin. A surface trough drifting westward across the Bay of Campeche is expected to reach mainland Mexico tonight. A cold front will approach the Texas coast on Saturday, then stall and dissipate inland Sunday. High pressure over the eastern U.S. will support gentle to moderate easterly winds seas 3 ft or less across most of the basin through mid-week. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... A tropical wave in the central Caribbean along 74W will move westward into Central America through Sun. Gusty winds are possible in heavier showers north of 15N associated with this wave. Winds are expected to diminish across most of the basin this weekend as a low in the western Atlantic near Bermuda drifts southward and weakens the pressure gradient over the subtropics. A surface trough along 50W is evident from scatterometer data, but is expected to become diffuse before it reaches the Windward Islands later this weekend. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A weak cold front extends from a 1006 mb low near Bermuda across the forecast waters north of 28N west of 65W. The front will drift slightly southward today, then dissipate by Saturday morning.
