Weak high pressure across the northern Gulf is maintaining near calm winds and flat to very small seas. Farther south, a the northern extent of a trough is moving through the Yucatan Peninsula and will move across the far southwest Gulf of Mexico through Fri, before dissipating Sat. By late Thu high pressure will build across the eastern United States, supporting gentle to moderate E to SE winds across the basin into early next week, with 2 to 4 ft seas. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... A trough over the northwest Caribbean and Yucatan Channel will continue moving westward and exit the area this afternoon, accompanied by active weather. A tropical wave in the eastern Caribbean will move west across the central Caribbean Thu into Fri, and pass west of the area through late Sat into Sun. Strong gusts are possible near showers and thunderstorms associated with this tropical wave near the Lesser Antilles and eastern Caribbean. Meanwhile high pressure building from the central Atlc into the central Bahamas will support moderate to fresh trade winds and building seas across the entire basin late Wed through Fri. Deepening low pressure far to the northeast over the north central Atlc will generate NE swell propagating into the Atlc passages by late Sun through early next week. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A surface trough reaching from roughly Bermuda to 28N68W will lift northward this afternoon and merge with a frontal boundary north of the area as high pressure builds along roughly 25N. Moderate to fresh SW to W winds are noted north of 30N, just south of the boundary, but generally light to moderate E to SE breezes with 2 to 4 ft seas are noted elsewhere over open waters. Low pressure moving off the Carolinas tonight will drag the weakening frontal boundary across the waters north of 27N Thu and Fri. The low will sink to near 31N67W Fri evening then drift W and slowly weaken Sat and Sun.
