272 AGXX40 KNHC 171747 MIMATS Marine Weather Discussion NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL 147 PM EDT Mon Sep 17 2018 Marine Weather Discussion for the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, and Tropical North Atlantic from 07N to 19N between 55W and 64W and the Southwest North Atlantic including the Bahamas ...GULF OF MEXICO... A 1014 mb surface high near 27N93W extends a ridge SE to the Yucatan Basin. A weak surface trough, extending southwest from the remnants of tropical cyclone Florence, will linger across the north-central Gulf waters through early Tue. A few thunderstorms are active along this trough, but will diminish later tonight. Farther west, an upper low is centered near 25N94W, supporting a few thunderstorms off the coast of Veracruz, and near Tampico. The remnants of tropical cyclone Isaac will move west across Yucatan Channel on Tue and Wed as a trough, and across the southwest Gulf waters on Thu as the ridge shifts and reorganizes W to E across the northern Gulf. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... The remnant low of T.S. Isaac currently centered south of Jamaica near 17N78W will weaken into a trough and move across the northwest Caribbean through mid week. Earlier ship reports indicated winds possibly reaching 25 kt on the east side of the low pressure. These winds are diminishing as the low weakens and opens into a trough. A tropical wave will move into the eastern Caribbean Tue night, into the central Caribbean Thu, and across the western Caribbean through Sat. Building high pressure north of the area will support increase trade winds and building seas across mainly the south central Caribbean by Wed. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A broad upper low centered over 26N65W is supporting a surface trough reaching from 26N64W to northern Haiti. The upper trough will lift north of the area through early Wed. This will allow the surface trough to dissipate into mid week, to be replaced by ridging extending from the north central Atlantic to the Bahamas. Looking ahead, low pressure forming along a trough extending from the remnant low of Florence well north of the area will move off the Carolinas. This will drag an attendant trough across the waters north of 27N Thu and Fri. $$ .WARNINGS...Any changes impacting coastal NWS offices will be coordinated through AWIPS II Collaboration Chat, or by telephone: .GULF OF MEXICO...
