A 1014 mb surface high near 28N94W extends a ridge SE to the Yucatan Basin this morning, while a weak surface trough, extending southwest from the remnants of tropical cyclone Florence, will linger across the north-central gulf waters through early Tue. The remnants of tropical cyclone Isaac will move west across Yucatan Channel on Tue and Wed and across the southwest gulf waters on Thu as the ridge shifts from the Florida Big Bend to northeast Texas. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... The remnant of tropical cyclone Isaac is passing along the SE coast of Jamaica this morning and will continue westward through the west central Caribbean through Mon accompanied by scattered thunderstorms. SE winds around 20 kt and seas to 6 ft will shift from the SW coast of Haiti NW to between Jamaica and Cuba through this afternoon before the low opens up into a N to S aligned trough. Otherwise, gentle trades are forecast west of the remnant of Isaac, while moderate to locally fresh trades are expected east of the remnant trough of Isaac. Strong nocturnal trades will resume off the northwest coast of Colombia on Mon night through the remainder of the week. A tropical wave will pass through the tropical Atlc waters east of the Windwards on Tue and Tue night, and through the east Caribbean on Wed and Thu accompanied by fresh to strong trades and building seas to 9 ft. Large area of SAL follows this wave across the Atlc attm. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A ridge extending from 31N71W to southeast Florida will gradually shift north to central Florida on Mon and Tue. A deep layered NE to SE oriented trough currently SE of the ridge extends from N coast of Hispaniola to central Atlc, with a weak trough at the surface. Very active convection is occurring SE of the surface trough to the N of 19N. Trough and weather will shift slowly westward through Tue before dissipating from central Bahamas to Bermuda early Wed. A ridge will then build underneath the lifting trough extend east to west along 25-26N by mid week, allowing for moderate to fresh trades S of 23N. Models sink frontal system S across the W Atlc Wed and Thu and into the NW waters before quickly stalling and weakening. Pulse of NNE swell to move into region at that time.
