A broad area of low pressure in the central gulf will shift northwest and reach inland southeast Texas on Fri evening. Fresh to locally strong easterly winds are forecast over the northeast semicircle of the low. This system has a medium chance of becoming a tropical cyclone prior to reaching the Texas coast. A northwest to southeast orientated surface ridge will set up from central Louisiana to Florida Bay by early Sat, with a surface high developing along the ridge near 27N91W late Sat.
