Latest surface observations indicate fresh to strong winds over the SE gulf, with gentle to moderate winds elsewhere. Seas are in the 6-8 ft range over the SE gulf, 1-3 ft over the NE gulf, and 2-3 ft elsewhere. A surface trough over the far western Caribbean will move across the Yucatan Peninsula today, and into the Gulf of Mexico Wed. The trough will move into the western gulf Thu, and west of the area Sat. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... Latest surface observations indicate fresh to strong winds over the NW Caribbean, moderate to fresh winds over the south central Caribbean, and gentle to moderate winds elsewhere over the Caribbean as well as the tropical N Atlc forecast zones. Seas are in the 7-9 ft range over the far NW Caribbean, 5-6 ft over the south central Caribbean, and 2-4 ft elsewhere over the Caribbean waters. Over the tropical N Atlc forecast zones, seas are in the 4-5 ft range. The main forecast concern Tropical Storm Isaac, which will affect the tropical N Atlc forecast zones as well as the eastern half of the Caribbean.
