A trough reaches across the far northern Gulf, parallel to the coast. Recent buoy and scatterometer data show fresh southeast winds over the far northeast Gulf, between the trough and high pressure over the western Atlantic. Fresh easterly flow is noted over the Straits of Florida as well, and is likely over the southwest Gulf ahead of a trough moving westward off the coast of Yucatan. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are active over the eastern and north central Gulf, related to divergent flow aloft. Elsewhere light to gentle breezes are evident. Seas are 2 to 3 ft. A big change in the pattern will start tonight as a trough emerges from the Bahamas and southern Florida into the southeast Gulf late tonight through Mon. Strong winds and building seas will accompany the trough from the southeast Gulf through the north central Gulf as low pressure develops along the trough over the central Gulf by Tue, along with widespread showers and thunderstorms. While global models agree low pressure may develop over the central Gulf along the trough by Tue, there remains some uncertainty as to how much the low will intensify before moving inland along the northwest Gulf coast by Tue night. Seas may build 4 to 6 ft over the northeast Gulf Mon and Tue ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W...
