A surface trough has moved off the Yucatan coast into the SW gulf, inducing moderate to fresh winds in the vicinity of the trough. Elsewhere, latest surface observations indicate gentle to moderate winds. Seas are in the 1-3 ft range. The surface trough over the SW gulf will dissipate this morning. A surface trough will develop each evening over the Yucatan Peninsula before pushing offshore into the SW Gulf each night. A surge of moderate to fresh NE to E winds will accompany this trough. Otherwise, a ridge will dominate the Gulf waters supporting a light to gentle to wind flow, with seas 1-3 ft, through Thu. Winds will increase slightly Thu night into Fri. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... Latest surface observations indicate fresh to strong winds over the south central Caribbean, light to gentle winds over the western Caribbean, and moderate to fresh winds over the remainder of the Caribbean. Over the tropical N Atlantic forecast zones, gentle to moderate winds prevail. Seas are in the 7-8 ft range over the south central Caribbean, 5-6 ft over the north central Caribbean, and 3-5 ft over the remainder of the Carribbean as well as the tropical N Atlantic forecast zones. The fresh to strong winds will prevail in the south- central Caribbean through Wed before diminishing. A tropical wave will approach the waters E of the Lesser Antilles on Tue, bringing fresh easterly winds and seas to 8 ft. The wave will enter the E Caribbean early on Wed. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A surface trough is moving across the Bahamas. Latest surface observations indicate winds pulsing to fresh to strong north of Hispaniola, with moderate to fresh winds elsewhere S of 24N. North of 24N, gentle to moderate winds prevail. Outside the Bahamas, seas are in the 4-6 ft range S of 24N, and 3-4 ft N of 24N. West of the Bahamas, seas are in the 1-3 ft range. The surface trough is forecast to move west of the area today. High pres will then prevail across the forecast area the remainder of the week, supporting gentle to moderate E to SE flow.
