A surface trough will develop during the evening hours over the Yucatan Peninsula before pushing offshore into the SW Gulf each night. A surge of moderate to fresh NE to E winds will accompany this trough, with building seas of 4 or 5 ft. A surface trough, currently located over the central Bahamas, will reach Florida on Mon, and the eastern Gulf by Mon night. Gentle to moderate winds will be associated with this trough. An upper-level low located over the central Gulf is generating scattered showers and tstms mainly N of 23N E of 92W. This feature will move westward, reaching the coast of Mexico by late Mon. Winds and seas could be higher near tstms. Otherwise, a ridge will dominate the Gulf waters supporting a gentle to moderate wind flow, and seas generally in the 2 to 4 ft range. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... Recent scatterometer data indicate the presence of fresh to strong winds across much of the central Caribbean, with moderate to fresh winds over the remainder of the waters S of 18N E of 80W. Gentle to moderate winds are noted over the NW caribbean. Fresh to strong winds and building seas around 10 ft will prevail in the south-central Caribbean trough Wed. Winds of 25 to 30 kt are expected near the coast of Colombia at night. A stronger tropical wave, currently located along 45W, will approach the waters E of the Lesser Antilles on Tue, bringing fresh easterly winds and seas around 8 ft. The wave will enter the E Caribbean early on Wed increasing the likelihood of showers and tstms in the Lesser Antilles. Gusty winds could also be possible. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A surface trough, reflection of an upper-level low, now situated over the central Bahamas, is forecast to move across the area through Mon. Gentle to moderate winds will be associated with this trough. Winds will pulse to fresh to strong at night just N of Hispaniola, including the approaches to the Windward Passage through Thu. Seas will build to 5-7 ft with these wind speeds. By Tue night into Wed, the northern extent of a tropical is forecast to reach the SE waters, particularly AMZ127 forecast zone. Fresh easterly winds and seas around 8 ft will be associated with the wave. Otherwise, a weak ridge will dominate the remainder of the forecast area supporting a gentle to moderate E to SE winds. Seas will be mainly 3-5 ft E of the Bahamas, and 1-3 ft W of the Bahamas, with the exception of 5-7 ft just N of Hispaniola.
