A surface trough will develop during the evening hours over the Yucatan Peninsula before pushing offshore into the SW Gulf each night. A surge of moderate to fresh NE to E winds will accompany this trough, with building seas of 2 to 4 ft. A surface trough will move across Florida into the eastern Gulf Mon evening or Mon night. Gentle to moderate winds will be associated with this trough. Otherwise, a ridge will dominate the Gulf waters supporting a gentle to moderate wind flow, and seas of 3 ft or less. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... Recent scatterometer data indicate the presence of fresh to strong winds across much of the central Caribbean, with moderate to fresh winds over the remainder of the waters S of 18N. Gentle to moderate winds are noted over the NW caribbean. Fresh to strong winds and building seas to 9 or 10 ft will prevail in the south- central Caribbean trough the forecast period. Otherwise, tropical waves will continue to move across the basin producing some convective activity and little impact in winds and seas. However, winds and seas could be higher near thunderstorms. On Tue, a tropical wave will approach the waters E of the Lesser Antilles. Fresh easterly winds and seas to 8 ft are expected near the northern end of the wave's axis. Expect fresh easterly winds just S of Hispaniola. These winds will further increase to 20-25 kt by Mon. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A surface trough, reflection of an upper-level low spinning over the SE Bahamas, is forecast to move across the area through Mon. Gentle to moderate winds will be associated with this trough. Winds will pulse to fresh to strong during the evening and night hours just N of Hispaniola through the middle of next week. Otherwise, a ridge will dominate the forecast area supporting a gentle to moderate anticyclonic flow.
