Showers and thunderstorms will affect the waters adjacent to the W coast of Florida this afternoon and evening. A surface trough along the E coast of Mexico will trigger showers and thunderstorms this afternoon. High pressure ridging will prevail across the area through early next week, supporting moderate to fresh SE winds over the west-central and NW Gulf. A nocturnal trough moving off the Yucatan peninsula will induce a surge of fresh to strong NE to E winds in the Bay of Campeche each night. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... High pressure north of the area will support fresh to strong winds over the south-central Caribbean through Tue. Frequent gusts to gale force are expected over the Gulf of Venezuela and near the coast of Colombia tonight and Sun night. Sustained winds could reach gale force along the coast of Colombia Sun night. Winds and seas over the caribbean will subside during mid week as the high pressure ridge over the western Atlantic weakens slightly and low pressure over northern South America fills gradually. A tropical wave is entering the eastern Caribbean and will cross the basin by Tue evening. The next tropical wave will enter the Caribbean Sun night and approach Central America by Wed evening. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A ridge along 30N will remain in place during the next several days and maintain gentle to moderate anticyclonic flow N of 22N, while mainly moderate easterly winds will prevail S of 22N. This will support fresh to locally strong winds along the N coast of Hispaniola and the approaches to the Windward Passage during the evening and night hours.
