649 AGXX40 KNHC 021806 MIMATS Marine Weather Discussion NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL 206 PM EDT Thu Aug 2 2018 Marine Weather Discussion for the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, and Tropical North Atlantic from 07N to 19N between 55W and 64W and the Southwest North Atlantic including the Bahamas ...GULF OF MEXICO... A surface trough extending from near the Mouth of the Mississippi to the Bay of Campeche will slowly move W and move inland over Texas and Mexico by Fri night. This feature is supported by a mid to upper-level trough and will dissipate after landfall as the mid to upper-level trough weakens. Showers and thunderstorms will be possible in the vicinity of the trough. Surface troughs moving W from the Yucatan Peninsula will produce fresh to locally strong winds over the eastern waters of the Bay of Campeche from sunset to around midnight. A ridge extending SW across Florida over the NE Gulf will gradually lift northward and generally support moderate ESE to SE return flow over the basin through Mon night. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... Fresh to locally strong trades are expected in the central Caribbean and the Gulf of Honduras through Mon night. Scattered showers from a tropical wave will move across the SE Caribbean today and the central Caribbean Fri. A NE to SW oriented ridge extending across most of the N Atlantic will weaken as an area of low pressure centered near 38N52W drifts southward through Sun morning to near 29N46W, then slowly lifts back N Sun and Mon. As a result trade winds over the tropical N Atlantic will diminish slightly during the next several days. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... Winds will pulse to strong speeds near the northern coast of Hispaniola each night through Mon night. Otherwise, trade winds across the region will gradually diminish through Mon night as the ridge over the western the Atlantic weakens in response to low pressure and associated troughing shifting S over the NE waters extending and lifts northward. $$ .WARNINGS...Any changes impacting coastal NWS offices will be coordinated through AWIPS II Collaboration Chat, or by telephone: .GULF OF MEXICO...
