A cold front is approaching the NW gulf waters. The front will stall near the upper Texas and Louisiana coasts tonight, then return N as a weakening warm front Thu. Scattered showers and thunderstorms in the vicinity of the front could produce brief gusty winds and higher seas. A surface trough is expected to form each day over the Yucatan Peninsula, then move over the Bay of Campeche at night. Fresh to locally strong winds will be possible over the eastern waters of the Bay of Campeche from sunset to around midnight as the troughs move offshore. Otherwise, ridging extending WSW from the western Atlantic will generally maintain moderate ESE to SE return flow over the basin through Sat night. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... Strong NE to E trades are expected over the central Caribbean through Wed night. The area of strong trades will then shrink in size and become more closely confined along the coast of Colombia through Sat night as the ridge to the N is weakened slightly by an area of mid to upper-level low pressure passing near or N of the Bahamas. Strong winds will pulse over the Gulf Honduras each night through Sat. Moderate to fresh trades will prevail over the eastern Caribbean, and gentle to moderate trades over the western Caribbean. Scattered showers and thunderstorms over the tropical N Atlantic waters in advance of a tropical wave will continue W and reach the far SE Caribbean Thu.
