Latest surface observations indicate moderate to fresh winds over the SW Gulf along and just off the coast of the Yucatan Peninsula, with light to gentle winds in anticyclonic fashion prevailing elsewhere. Seas are in the 2-3 ft range over the SW gulf and 1-2 ft elsewhere. High pressure ridging will prevail along 25N through early next week. A surface trough extending from NE gulf neat 28N85W will slide east of the gulf to over northeastern Florida by tonight. Another surface trough will move into the NE gulf early next week. The troughs are expected to produce scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms over much of the NE gulf through the forecast period. The combination of these troughs and the high pressure will allow for generally gentle to moderate southwesterly winds to continue across the eastern half of the gulf through the next few days. West winds will increase to strong intensity on Sun afternoon over the far northern gulf east of 89W, then diminish to mainly fresh by early Mon. Seas with these winds are expected to build to around 7 ft with these winds. It is possible that they may briefly reach 8 ft before the winds diminish. A surface trough will move off the Yucatan Peninsula into the Bay of Campeche each evening, accompanied by fresh nocturnal winds. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... Latest surface observations indicate strong to near gale force NE-E winds over the south central Caribbean, gentle to moderate over the western Caribbean, and moderate to fresh winds over the remainder of the Caribbean waters. Over the tropical N Atlc waters, moderate winds prevail. Seas are in the 9-12 ft range over the south central Caribbean, 8-10 ft over the north central Caribbean, 5-6 ft over the eastern Caribbean, 2-4 ft over the western Caribbean, and 6-8 ft over the tropical N Atlc forecast zones. High pressure north of the area will support strong to near gale force winds in the south-central Caribbean through Sun night before winds diminish to mainly strong intensity. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... Latest surface observations indicate moderate to fresh winds north of the Bahamas off the coast of Florida and S of 21N,while gentle to moderate winds prevail elsewhere. Outside the Bahamas, seas are in the 4-6 ft range, and west of the Bahamas seas are in the 1-2 ft range. A high pressure ridge across the northern waters will remain in place through Sun before lifting northward.
