150 AGXX40 KNHC 191833 MIMATS Marine Weather Discussion NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL 233 PM EDT Thu Jul 19 2018 Marine Weather Discussion for the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, and Tropical North Atlantic from 07N to 19N between 55W and 64W and the Southwest North Atlantic including the Bahamas ...GULF OF MEXICO... Weak high pressure ridge across the Gulf along 25N will prevail throughout the week. Active convection is expected across the northern Gulf during the next few days as persistent deep layered troughing across the Ern US amplifies and maintains W to SW flow across the NE Gulf. This Wly flow forecast to strengthen Sun to Mon and reach 20-25 kt northward of 28N with seas building to 6 ft. A surface thermal trough will move off the Yucatan Peninsula into the Bay of Campeche each evening, accompanied by fresh nocturnal winds. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... High pressure across the central Atlantic extends SW to the NW Bahamas and then weakly westward across the Gulf of Mex along about 25N and is supporting strong tradewinds across the south- central Caribbean. This pattern expected to generally prevail through early next week. Nocturnal winds will increase to around 30 kt each of the next several nights, and possibly to gale force Fri and Sat nights in between series of next tropical waves. Scattered squalls and thunderstorms accompany a tropical wave moving across the eastern Caribbean today as the convection encounters strong area of SAL to the W of the wave, while another large area of SAL trails this wave. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... High pressure across the central Atlantic extends SW to the NW Bahamas and then weakly westward across the Gulf of Mex along about 25N and expected to remain in place through Sunday. The high is forecast to shift SW to just NE of Bermuda by early next week and induce a more SE wind flow regime across the regional waters. Otherwise, generally tranquil marine conditions will prevail across most of the region through the weekend. The northern portion of the next two tropical waves will move across the Greater Antilles and SE waters before being shunted northward in the deep layered SW flow across Florida and adjacent Atlc, thus blocking this moisture and energy from the Sunshine State. $$ .WARNINGS...Any changes impacting coastal NWS offices will be coordinated through AWIPS II Collaboration Chat, or by telephone: .GULF OF MEXICO...
