636 AGXX40 KNHC 111951 MIMATS Marine Weather Discussion NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL 351 PM EDT Wed Jul 11 2018 Marine Weather Discussion for the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, and Tropical North Atlantic from 07N to 19N between 55W and 64W and the Southwest North Atlantic including the Bahamas ...GULF OF MEXICO... High pressure will prevail across the northern Gulf waters through Sun. A surface trough will move westward off the Yucatan Peninsula each evening through Sun, and enhance nocturnal winds over the SW Gulf with minimal winds and waves. Winds and seas will remain light for the next several days. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... A tropical wave will move across the western Caribbean tonight. Elsewhere, Atlantic high pressure will build across the region behind the tropical wave to freshen tradewinds across the central Caribbean waters. Winds will pulse to near or just below gale force each night off Colombia beginning Thu night through at least Sun night. Waveheights will peak between 12-15 ft in the area during late night-early morning conditions starting this evening through at least Sun night. A very pronounced Saharan Air Layer (SAL) was present as seen in the GOES-16 RGB Dust imagery extending westward across the Lesser Antilles, into the eastern Caribbean Sea, as well as Puerto Rico/Virgin Islands, and Hispaniola. This should contribute toward dry, hazy conditions during the next day or so. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... Active weather will cover the waters south of 28N and W of 70W today as the remnants of Beryl move NNW through the Bahamas. The remnants of Beryl should turn N on Thu and move north of the area on Fri. The system has a low chance of re-developing into a tropical cyclone before moving north of our area. Noteworthy is the scattered moderate and isolated strong convection associated with the remnants. While in general winds will be a fresh breeze and seas to 8 ft, winds and seas will be higher near the convection. High pressure will dominate the region Fri through the upcoming weekend. The aforementioned SAL also is present just east of the remnants of Beryl including the southeasternmost Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos Islands. $$ .WARNINGS...Any changes impacting coastal NWS offices will be coordinated through AWIPS II Collaboration Chat, or by telephone: .GULF OF MEXICO...
