000 AGXX40 KNHC 080834 MIMATS Marine Weather Discussion NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL 434 AM EDT Sun Jul 8 2018 Marine Weather Discussion for the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, and Tropical North Atlantic from 07N to 19N between 55W and 64W and the Southwest North Atlantic including the Bahamas ...GULF OF MEXICO... High pressure will prevail over the northern waters through Wed. A surface trough will move westward off the Yucatan Peninsula each evening, and enhance nocturnal winds over the SW Gulf, through Thu. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... Tropical Storm Beryl near 13.1N 54.3W 1005 mb at 0300 UTC moving WNW at 16 kt. Maximum sustained winds 40 kt gusts 50 kt. Beryl will move to 14.0N 56.8W Sun morning, reach near 15.3N 60.5W Sun evening, reach near 16.6N 64.5W Mon morning as a tropical depression, then weaken to a tropical wave late Mon as it moves across the Mona Passage and along the south coast of Hispaniola through Tue. Although Beryl is forecast to "dissipate" or become an open wave, models show BL winds 30-35 kt moving across the NE Carib and local islands and will maintain winds 25-30 kt across the NE semicircle as the remnant vortex crosses the region and moves to Hispaniola. Too, SAL just ahead of the remnant wave will allow convection to develop into squall lines with strong gusts. So despite this system weakening to a TD or wave, local interests should still treat it as a minimal TS in terms of sensible weather and messaging to users. Elsewhere, tradewinds will increase to just below gale force off Colombia tonight and Sun night. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... Tropical Depression Three near 32.9N 75.1W 1014 mb at 0300 UTC. Maximum sustained winds 30 kt gusts 40 kt. The system will meander north of the area and offshore of the North Carolina coast through Mon, reaching tropical storm intensity Sun morning. The system will then start to shift northeastward away from the area Tuesday. Expect an increase in winds and seas over the waters south of 22N Mon through Tue as the remnants of Tropical Storm Beryl move WNW across the Caribbean. $$ .WARNINGS...Any changes impacting coastal NWS offices will be coordinated through AWIPS II Collaboration Chat, or by telephone: .GULF OF MEXICO...
