A 1013 mb low is centered SE of Galveston TX near 28N93W. Latest surface obs indicate gentle to moderate cyclonic winds within 90 nm of the circulation center. Widespread shower activity and embedded thunderstorms are evident in the NW Gulf this morning. This system is expected to slowly move westward into NE Texas later today. A weak ridge over the remainder of the Gulf will persist through Sat night. A surface trough will emerge off the Yucatan Peninsula each evening, and enhance nocturnal winds over the SW Gulf through Sun. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... A tropical wave in the western Caribbean along 83W will continue moving west into Central America through Thu. Another tropical wave in the eastern Caribbean along 63W will reach the western Caribbean on Fri. Scatterometer data shows fresh to strong trade winds over the central Caribbean. Winds will approach gale force near the coast of Colombia, mainly at night, tonight through Fri night. A tropical wave in the eastern Atlantic along 33W, with a 1010 mb low evident near 10N33W, is expected to remain a vigorous wave as it approaches the tropical N Atlantic around Sat night. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... Water vapor imagery shows a well developed upper low centered near 29N77W. Surface observations and scatterometer data show a weak trough reflected at the surface beneath this upper low. The surface trough will move across the NW Bahamas and over Florida through tonight. Model guidance shows a second surface trough forming near Bermuda, extending SW into forecast waters. This trough is expected to shift N of the area by Fri. High pressure will build across the region this weekend.
