A trough extends from a 1014 mb low centered near 29.5N89W to near 25N90W. Latest surface observations indicate moderate to fresh winds within 120 nm east of the trough and north of 28N, gentle to moderate winds over the SW gulf, and light to gentle winds elsewhere. Seas are in the 2-4 ft range over the SW gulf, and 1-3 ft over the remainder of the forecast waters. Showers and thunderstorms associated to the low and trough prevail over the northern Gulf, and can be expected near this system as it slowly moves W toward NE Texas through Wed. A high pressure ridge over the remainder of the Gulf will prevail through Sat night. A surface trough will emerge off the Yucatan Peninsula each evening through Sat, and help enhance nocturnal winds over the SW Gulf. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... A tropical wave is in the western Caribbean, with another wave over the tropical N Atlc forecast waters. Latest surface observations indicate fresh to strong winds over the south central Caribbean, gentle winds over the western Caribbean, and moderate to fresh winds over the remainder of the Caribbean as well as the tropical N Atlc forecast zones. Seas are in the 6-8 ft range over the south central Caribbean, 2-4 ft over the western Caribbean, and 4-6 ft over the remainder of the Caribbean waters. Over the tropical N Atlc waters, 6-8 ft seas prevail. The tropical wave in the western Caribbean will move west of the area Thu, while the other wave will enter the eastern Caribbean today, reach the central Caribbean Thu and the western Caribbean Fri. Fresh to strong winds will prevail over the central Caribbean through Sat. Near gale force NE winds are possible near the coast of Colombia Thu night and Fri night. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A surface trough extends from 31N72W to the central Bahamas. Latest surface observations indicate gentle to moderate winds east of the trough, and light to gentle winds west of the trough. Outside the Bahamas, seas are in the 3-4 ft range east of the trough, 2-3 ft west of the trough. West of the Bahamas, seas are in the 1-2 ft range. The trough will move across the NW Bahamas and over Florida Wed and Wed night. A second trough will develop near Bermuda and extending SW into the forecast waters. This trough will shift NW of the area by the end of the week. High pressure will build in its wake.
