000 AGXX40 KNHC 020633 MIMATS Marine Weather Discussion NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL 233 AM EDT Mon Jul 2 2018 Marine Weather Discussion for the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, and Tropical North Atlantic from 07N to 19N between 55W and 64W and the Southwest North Atlantic including the Bahamas ...GULF OF MEXICO... A trough extends from a weak surface low near Pensacola Florida to near 27N86W. Showers and thunderstorms can be expected near the trough as it slowly moves westward through Tue. A high pressure ridge covering the remainder of the Gulf will change little through Fri night. A surface trough will emerge off the Yucatan Peninsula each evening through Fri, then act to enhance nocturnal winds over the SW Gulf. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... A broad tropical wave extending from Venezuela to near Puerto Rico will enter the central Caribbean Tue and the western Caribbean Wed before moving over Central America and the Yucatan Peninsula early on Thu. The next tropical wave to affect the Caribbean is over the tropical Atlantic near 47W. This wave will enter the eastern Caribbean on Tue and reach the central Caribbean on Wed. Fresh to strong winds over the central Caribbean will gradually diminish through Tue before increasing again Wed through Fri night as the ridge rebuilds over the western Atlantic. The ridge will be strongest on Fri before low pressure moving eastward from the united States mainland begins to weaken the ridge once again. GFS model guidance suggests the pressure gradient along the northern coast of Colombia will be strong enough to generate winds to near gale force, and possibly to minimal gale force Fri. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A high pressure ridge extending WSW across the western Atlantic is weakening in response to the development of broad low pressure NE of the Bahamas. The low is currently centered S of Bermuda near 30N64W and has a central pressure of 1014 mb. A surface trough extends SSW from the low to near 23N67W. The ridge will then rebuild Wed through Thu night as the low weakens into a trough and moves westward over the NW Bahamas Tue and then over Florida Wed night. Winds N of Hispaniola will pulse to strong speeds each night beginning Wed night and continuing through at least the end of the week. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to accompany the low and trough. Otherwise, generally tranquil marine conditions are expected across the region through Fri night. $$ .WARNINGS...Any changes impacting coastal NWS offices will be coordinated through AWIPS II Collaboration Chat, or by telephone: .GULF OF MEXICO...
