A weak ridge dominates the Gulf waters, producing gentle to moderate winds with seas of 3-5 ft over the western Gulf, and seas of 3 ft or less across the eastern Gulf. The weak ridging will persist from the southeast Gulf to Texas through early next week. SE return flow will increase over the western Gulf between the ridge and weak low pressure over northern Mexico starting Sat night. An additional increase in winds to 20 to 25 kt can be expected overnight just north and west of the Yucatan Peninsula as a diurnal surface trough that develops each day over the Yucatan Peninsula moves over that region each night. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... A tropical wave along 79W will continue through the western Caribbean through tonight. Another tropical wave in the eastern Caribbean will move through the central Caribbean tonight, then across the western Caribbean into Central America through Sun. A third tropical wave will pass west of 55W tonight, move across the eastern Caribbean Sat, the central Caribbean Sun, and through the western Caribbean early next week. Trade winds over the south central Caribbean will strengthen and expand in areal coverage across the basin through early next week as high pressure builds across the central Atlantic. Winds could reach near gale force along the coast of Colombia by Sat night. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... High pressure over the east-central Atlantic will slowly shift westward through Sat night, then remain nearly stationary near 30N55W through Tue night, supporting fresh trade winds south of 22N, becoming strong off Hispaniola at night.
