Weak ridging extends from the southeast Gulf through the coast of Texas. Near calm to light winds persist over the eastern half of the Gulf with seas 2 ft or less. Farther west, 1009 mb low pressure remains centered over northern Tamaulipas state in northeast Mexico, near the mouth of the Rio Grande. Gentle to moderate SE breezes are active across the western Gulf, between the ridge and the low pressure. No significant convection is noted. The low will shift inland more through Fri, as the ridge builds west. The building ridge will allow moderate to fresh winds over mainly the west central and northwest Gulf Sat through early next week, with little change over the eastern Gulf. Overnight troughing along the west coast of the Yucatan Peninsula will allow moderate to fresh nocturnal winds over the Bay of Campeche, with localized pulses to 25 kt along the coast through Sun night. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... A tropical wave passing through Jamaica will continue through western Caribbean Fri. Another tropical wave in the eastern Caribbean will move through the central Caribbean Fri, then across the western Caribbean into Central America through Sun. A third tropical wave will will pass west of 55W late Fri, move across the eastern Caribbean Sat, the central Caribbean Sun, and through the western Caribbean early next week. Divergence aloft along with lower level convergence in the wake of the tropical wave currently over the eastern Caribbean is support scattered convection across the southern Leeward Islands, impacting mainly Dominica. Trade winds over the south central Caribbean will strengthen and expand in areal coverage across the basin through early next week as high pressure builds across the central Atlantic. Winds could reach near gale force along the coast of Colombia by Sun night. Strong winds will also pulse over the Gulf of Honduras mainly during the overnight hours through early next week. Over the tropical north Atlantic west of 55W, trade winds will increase, with seas building to 9 ft by late Fri, assisted by a component of northeast swell. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A cold core low situated northeast of the Bahamas near 25N67W is supporting scattered showers and thunderstorms from 23N to 26N between 65W and 70W. In the lower levels, broad and weak ridging extends along roughly 24N/25N into southern Florida, supporting generally gentle to moderate flow and 2 to 4 ft winds outside of the Bahamas.
