Low pressure over southern Texas will support strong winds, numerous showers and scattered thunderstorms over the Gulf of Mexico N of 26N and W of 94W today. Winds and seas over the western Gulf will subside during the next couple of days as the low weakens. SE return flow over the western Gulf will become fresh to strong early next week as high pressure building over the gulf from the western Atlantic tightens the pressure gradient in this region. A surface trough will develop over the Yucatan Peninsula each afternoon, then move westward across the SW Gulf during overnight hours, accompanied by fresh east to southeast winds. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... A tropical wave passing south of Hispaniola will support scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms N of 16N and E of 75W today. This wave will cross the western Caribbean and enter central America by Sat evening. Another tropical wave along 55W will bring showers and thunderstorms to the Windward Islands Thursday morning. This wave will enter the eastern Caribbean on Thu and pass S of Hispaniola Sat. A third tropical wave over the tropical Atlantic just E of 40W will reach the Windward Islands by Sat evening. Strong E to SE winds will affect the Gulf of Honduras tonight, then return Fri night through Sun night. Trade winds across the south-central Caribbean will strengthen on Thursday, then expand in coverage across the basin this weekend in response to high pressure building westward from the central Atlantic over the western Atlantic. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A weakening stationary front east-northeast of the Bahamas will become a trough today and dissipate by tonight.
