A surface trough will develop along the Yucatan Peninsula late this afternoon, and drift westward across the southwest Gulf waters during the overnight hours accompanied by a fresh to locally strong east to southeast wind shift with the trough dissipating along 96W late Fri morning. The pressure gradient is tightening in association with a tropical wave that will move west-northwest across the Yucatan Peninsula and into the Bay of Campeche today. The wave will gradually weaken into a broad and elongated area of low pressure across the southwest gulf waters on Fri and Sat, with the pressure gradient supporting fresh to strong southeast flow across the western Gulf of Mexico on Sun. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... A tropical wave will move west across the central Caribbean through early Fri and continue through the west Caribbean into the upcoming weekend. A second tropical wave will pass west through the southeast Caribbean tonight and Fri reaching the central Caribbean during the upcoming weekend. Strong trades currently across the central Caribbean will shift slightly west across the waters between 70W and 85W then begin to diminish. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... An east to west ridge along 27N will shift south along 25N on Fri, along 24N on Sat and weaken along 23N on Sun as a weak cold front passes east through the waters north of 25N. Fresh to locally strong easterly winds are forecast along the northern coast of Hispaniola during the late afternoons and evenings through Fri, with moderate easterly flow forecast elsewhere south of the ridge.
