A nearly stationary front is sagging southward in the NE Gulf. Showers and thunderstorms may flare up along the boundary again today. The frontal boundary will become dissipate later today. A surface trough will develop along the Yucatan Peninsula each afternoon, then drift westward in the the SW Gulf at night. Fresh to strong NE winds will pulse off the northwest coast of Yucatan and into the southwest Gulf from late evening to early morning each night. Moderate to fresh southeast return flow is expected off the coast of Texas by late Sun. Otherwise little change is expected. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... Scatterometer data at 0235 UTC showed fresh to strong E-NE winds in the central Caribbean and an area of fresh E winds S of 18N in the Gulf of Honduras. Moderate to fresh trade winds are indicated elsewhere E of 80W. A tropical wave is analyzed over the central Caribbean with an axis extending from 18N73W to 10N75W. Winds and seas in the south central Gulf will increase later today as high pressure builds east of the tropical wave moving into the western Caribbean. The areal extent of strong trade winds will increase as well, encompassing much of the southwest Caribbean by Fri with max seas building to 13-14 ft. Pulses of strong east winds are likely to continue off the north coast of Honduras. Winds and seas will diminish Sun as the next tropical wave along 47W moves into the central Caribbean. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A stationary front reaches from 31N74W to near Cape Canaveral Florida. The Atlantic ridge axis is displaced southward to 23N. Light to moderate anticylonic winds are noted across a wide swath of the basin on either side of the ridge, with 3 to 5 ft seas in open waters. The front will become diffuse later today, and the ridge will lift slowly northward through Fri morning. This will support fresh trades south of 22N, and pulses of fresh to strong winds off the north coast of Hispaniola at night through early next week.
