An upper trough over the eastern Gulf of Mexico supports scattered showers and thunderstorms N of the Bahamas, W of 77W. The high pressure will dissipate into early next week as it shifts south as a ridge, ahead of a trough moving across the Carolinas into the western Atlantic. The pressure gradient between this high and lower pressures over the Caribbean is producing locally strong easterly winds along the northern coast of Hispaniola. These winds will persist into the late evening before diminishing. The winds will then return Friday afternoon, before once again diminishing Friday night.
